How Can severe Lower Back Be Treated?

This weekend I went to an urgent care for lower back pain. While there, they did both blood and urine labs to check my kidneys because I have low kidney function (per one of my Doctors). The urine showed my WBC were very high, so they went ahead and started me on Macrobid. Today, they told me stop that and gave me Diflucan instead because the infection was just yeast. I took the first course this morning around 11:00am. This afternoon, around 3:00pm, my back started hurting on the right side, and then my stomach started cramping. My question is whether I am already having side effects from the Diflucan, or if I am possibly dealing with kidney stones, or something like that. Tori Dennis

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to spine related problems like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedic and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
